Intensive care unit
As part of operating theatre there is an intensive care unit and a post-surgery unit fitted with two beds suitable for the post-surgery monitoring of patients having undergone complex surgeries and the treatment
of patients in critical conditions.
This a ward hosts more than 200 patients every year.
Inside the perating theaters and within the intensive care units, special attention is paid to the sterility control: since 2002,
a hospital infection control committee has been appointed which defined a series of procedures aiming at cutting infection risks to the bare minimum.
Particular care is paid to the environmental biological
monitoring consisting of the assessment of the low bacterial charge of the microclimate in the ward.
The monitoring is possible through the weekly air bacterial charge within each operating theaters and through
the complete ward microclimate assessment (humidity, temperature, air changes), carried out twice a year by a specialised company.
Sterilisation activities are constantly controlled.
Every day quality tests are enforced through an ultramodern electronic unit (ETS) providing for the objective analysis of sterilisation processes and relating
recording through suitable information technology.
What is more every week microbiological tests are carried out during sterilisation.
Patients, on request, can ask the Healthcare management to see any quality
enforced procedure and the environmental analysis results.
